Hey there....me again......I didn't have the strength to stamp today.  I finished cutting for my class tomorrow and that about did me in.  So, I decided to finish the Kindle Clutch Instructions.  They were almost done...I  just needed to piece it together & load the buttons. p.s. Yes, I'll be making a similar bag for the new ipad. I even thought of a way to make it better.  I have the dimensions of the ipad and now I'm trying to decide....do I wait & make it when it comes out or use my pretend ipad and make it now?   (Pretend ipad I took several pieces of our white cardboard that comes in the designer paper packs and taped enough of them together to measure .5 for the thickness & I cut it at 9.56 x 7.47 for the exact measurement of the ipad.) 

After Christmas

Just checking in to say hi :)
After the scare on Thursday I've been glued to Dave's side.

I'm not sure I'll ever get over seeing his eyes rolling back and him passing out.  Over the past two days I've continued to stare at him and he keeps asking "what are you looking at?" (sounds almost like a child). And I say "I'm making sure you're alive".

And to top all that off....did you see the Holiday Blizzard we had in Kansas?  I'm a Tennessee girl and don't know how to drive in this stuff.  So, not only does Dave have cabin fever but we all do!!

I think tomorrow I'll head down to my office & try to stamp something.

  In the meantime ...I've posted my Kindle Clutch on my other blog.

New Blog Design

Good afternoon!
I think we've pretty much wrapped up the new design for my blog but I need your help :)
Can you look around....
and let us know if any of the links are not working or if something is out of whack?

What do you think?   I've wanted a change for a long time and I think it's been worth the wait!!
I had the idea of getting my own logo and then using it with everything for a long time! 
But finding a logo ...well....that can take some time.

White is my favorite color....Celery & Pink Pirouette follows close behind and black is classic. So I told Veronica what my favorite colors were and that I wanted a chick or a bird and this is the result.

Which blog is your favorite?  (I know I have too many to count but it keeps me organized.)
I'll share my favorite this weekend.....I wonder....do you know which one I'll say?

I've had one person ask "why I changed"....."they loved the banner that was my house".  I loved it too....but it was time for a change and I needed a logo I could add to all my documents....more or less it was a branding thing (and I was ready for a change).

I've got lots of things to share with you but I need to get my project posted for the day.  Maybe this weekend I'll post all the little things I need to share......and as long as I'm not having blog trouble I'll throw in some blog candy.

Savanna's Purse

Good morning!
This is a purse I made over the Thanksgiving holiday (thanks Donna for helping me!!!)  It's going to be Savanna's purse (one of my nieces) for Christmas. 



 I wish I could say I used the Big Shot to make it but I didn't.  We used a Jelly Roll and a new item that I hadn't used before.   Fusible Fleece (and wow .....  have you seen how many choices you have?).  And I learned how to make a ruffle for the top of a purse (which is what this purse is missing...like pockets ...I felt like it's over my head).

p.s. would you like a good laugh?  yesterday I created two new blogs (I know another one...I just have this need to keep everything organized).  One is for my local girls so I can update them on local events.....for example coming over and quilting with me. And the other one was for technical stuff....my thoughts were I'm always trying new things, some work, some don't and I thought it would be a great place for me to rattle on about the technical side of my business.    So, the irony of it is....I create a Technical blog to share my knowledge and then I wake up today with my blog out of sorts and I don't have a clue how to fix it.  Maybe I should add a footer to the blog that I'm not an expert..... I'm just sharing my experiences :)

December Free Stamp set or Purse

My post today is going to be a Hodgepodge of things!!   I'd like to start off by saying "Thanks" to all the ladies that purchased Stampin' Up! product from me during my Black Friday Cyber Monday Sale.  Thank you!!

I filmed my first live stream on UStream today and I'm not sure if I even did it right.  It was live and I think I may have repeated myself too many times ...oh well, I'm learning.  I'll continue to educate myself on it and see what kind of fun we can have with it.  For example, posting the winners names...maybe next time I'll just draw the name and save the release of the next months product for my blog post (I'm rattling...so I'll stop here).

I made this Wild Thyme purse with the Scallop Square Die & the Big Shot Die Cut Machine.  I'm working on a Tutorial and as soon as I get it figured out I'll be sure to let you know.  This bag is my 4th attempt at a bag for my Kindle ....or is it my fifth? (I've since moved on and I'm making larger purses....you'll see very soon).  I'm happy with this size and I think it's perfect for my Kindle plus a few other items. 

The Free Stamp set for December is Fox & Friends & it's a set that will be available in January in the Occasions Mini Catalog. (If you're a Stampin' Up! demonstrator you can pre-order it now.)

December 3rd update....I'm very sorry but the Fox & Friends stamp set can not be given for free this month. I didn't realize that it's against the rules for me to give a set away before it's available to purchase.  I'll figure out what set I can offer you in the next few days.

My next picture is a couple quick & easy cards I made using the Fox & Friends stamp set. We all know I like cards I can whip out really fast and these darling images puts a smile on my face!!

Next is a larger image of the purse...I couldn't figure out which one to show you so I'm posting both of them.

The final picture of the day cracks me up!! Over the weekend I ask David to lift my table where I cut my fabric.  Leaning over was really getting to my back. So, I googled how to raise my 6" table and it said to use PVC pipe.   Well, we did it...and here's the results......

 

Isn't that funny looking?  But you know.....it works!  No more hurting my back when I'm cutting fabric!  I'm thinking I need to cover up those legs.....I see a glimpse of them from the corner of my eye and I swear it reminds me of horses legs being wrapped!

New Moon Pics

Here's a few photos from opening night of New Moon.  The first picture is of Julie & I (aka my stamping buddy, my quilting buddy, my convention buddy and my twilight series buddy).

We are so very thankful that Teresa had blankets in her van but can I just say 'we were frozen solid"!!  Our group consisted of me, Julie, Teresa, Melissa, Tracy, Brooke & Brooke (yes two Brooke's).  I'm kicking myself for not talking a group picture and for not having a memory card with me. 

The next picture is of the line.....this is how close we were to the door....you should have seen the line going in the other direction (tried to take that one and that's when I realized I had no memory card).  (I know I worded that wrong.....hopefully it will make you laugh.)

 

  We had tickets but for some reason we had to wait outside.  Over an hour in the cold temps was not how we expected our night to begin!  Good thing Eclipse is in June!  Local girls....we're going back to Palazzo 16 for the next one (with my luck it will be 110 on June 30th and I'd rather wait in doors).  Go ahead & mark your calendar for June 29th.

I'll share more photos later...I'm waiting to get a few of them from some of the other girls.

My next picture is a Pin Cushion I bought last week.....isn't it darling?  It clamps right on to my sewing table :)  I'll have another one to show you next weekend (a gift I received).

 

I bought this little old sewing table years & years ago and I kept our bird cage on it.  Yes, I stole it from our bird :)  we joke & say she deserves it (I'll share that story one day).

New Moon Treat Bags & Purse

Good afternoon,

Last night was a blast and I loved New Moon!  But I'm so stinkin tired I can hardly talk let alone type. I'll share some pictures with you and then post more details this weekend. 

 

The first picture is of the goodies I made for everyone that joined me for New Moon. I think they were a hit :)  Ladies mark your calendars....June 29th, 2010 join me for the release of Eclipse.

Here's a better picture of the Quilted Flowers that went around their bags.  They're made with our Stampin' Up! big shot dies, Flower Folds & the Scallop Circles.  I also used the 1 1/4 Old Olive Striped Grosgrain Ribbon.

 

The next picture is of the purse I made for this special occasion.  I couldn't resist! I found this darling fabric and I just had to make myself a purse!!

 

Here's a closer picture......I think I'm getting better at sewing!!

I'll try to show you some pictures from last night soon.  Get this...I charged the battery for my camera but forgot my memory card and Melissa had her memory card but a dead battery.  Julie saved us & took a few pictures.  I was so excited about the movie I forgot several things....like ordering chips at Chipotle. I always get chips with my meal and with all the excitement it slipped my mind.

Rag Quilt Blanket or Throw

Good afternoon,

I took a trip to the fabric store and decided to get started on my Rag Quilt Blanket ...... or is a throw?  I searched online for all the details and there's a lot of info on this subject.  What I've decided to do is make the quilt based on a hodge podge of info and then try to incorporate Stampin' Up! in the process (on the next rag quilt).

For example, my first Rag Quilt Purse was made with just regular 5" squares and after I made it I decided to use the Scallop Square Die.  What a time saver that was!!  I cut 126 squares last night and 63 this morning. Having the Big Shot do the cutting really does save you time!

Here's a picture of my squares and I purchased this fabric at Quilters Haven in Olathe, KS.

The next picture is how I figured it out on paper.  I decided after much research that I wanted my throw to have 7 squares across with 9 down. Each square is a 6" square.  I need 63 squares for the front and 63 for the back.   I also need 63 squares of batting and I choose 4 1/4 for the size.  Notice how I said "I choose"?  There's a lot of info out there and I'm just a beginner so I'm going with what the ladies tell me at the quilting store.

 

Here's how I figured out how many squares I needed of each pattern. 

 

I'm not sure when I'll get started but for now my squares are ready for whenever I have some time to sew (usually very late at night when I'm too tired for anything else).

If you emailed me about the Cowboy prints on my sisters purse. I went back to Quilters Haven and bought some more fabric and now I have the names.  Here ya go:

• The pattern with the horse & saddle is "Back in the Saddle" copyright by Anita Phillips & licensed to Wilmington prints.
• The pattern with the red stripes with blue stars doesn't have a name on it but it does say Patt. 3719 and the website is www.andoverfabrics.com.
• The burnt red pattern with cream stars is 1867 Gloria by Bonnie Sullivan. 
• Horse shoe pattern was sold out but you could use  022 Zen Stripe Makower uk.
• Pattern on bottom of purse wasn't shown in the picture and it doesn't have a name on it.  When you're buying the fabric just look for a pattern that has the same colors in it.

I bought several patterns of new fabric & I'll save it for next weekend.

Quilting with the Top Note

Good morning!

Remember last month when I mentioned that I was using the Top Note Die to Quilt?  Well, that project was a flop....but ....this one is not :)  Actually what happened is when I tried to make a purse with it...... the shape was lost ...so, I ditched it.  Here's my new project.......

 

How cool is my new Top Note pin cushion?  But don't look too closely this is my warm up version. 

I'll share how I came about creating this.  I was in the kitchen with Dave last night and he was watching TV and I was thumbing through my new Quilting Magazine and I stumbled across a darling pin cushion in the shape of a rectangle and it had a leaf on it.   It was like a light bulb moment...I said I'll be right back. I ran to my stamp room, grabbed four pieces of Figgy Pudding fabric and two pieces of batting.  Ran them through the Big Shot, stuffed it with Polyfil and pinned it and sewed it :)  It seriously took me less than five minutes.  (It helped that I already had a bobbin with chocolate thread on it.)

Things that I will change on my next one is make the batting smaller, the edges are sticking out the sides. And I might try a Blanket Stitch around the sides instead of sewing it on my machine.  But by doing that it will take longer....so I'm not sure.

Other ideas as I'm looking at it:

• Couldn't you see adding some ribbon and making it an ornament? You could also monogram it if the pattern of fabric was less busy.
• Add a squeaky thing and it can be a dog toy.
• Doll pillow

Rag Quilt Purse Instructions

The Rag Quilt Purse Instructions are available for $4.99.  These instructions are 4 pages that includes the pattern, instructions, supply list & fabric list.  Photos are not included but you have a three part video tutorial available to see each step. All three videos will be posted on my Chic' n Scratch Live! website Monday Nov. 9th.

These instructions explain how to make the purse but it does not include how to use the Big Shot.  If you need help with that please let me know.

Once you've paid, the instructions are sent to you electronically and you'll need to open & save them to your computer within 24 hours.

Quilting Organization

Good morning!

I've had some ladies ask if I'd share how I store my fabric so I took some pictures this morning.  It's not an elaborate system but it's working for now. 

The first picture is of how I store my Charm Packets and Fat Quarters....I bought the darling stand in Nell Hills several years ago (if you live in the Kansas area you're familiar with Nell Hill).

 

The next picture is all the fabric I own (this shelf was cheap & I found it at Wal-Mart).  See all the pink & white fabric?  I bought that on sale and I'm going to make a Rag Quilt Baby Blanket. (I'm tardy on sending a baby gift to my cousin and I hope it will be so darling that all will be forgiven.)

 

The next picture is of that whole wall that I've dedicated to sewing. (I cleaned it up before I took the picture, you and I both know that the top of that shelf is never clean!!) The basket on the left has all my Batting.  The basket on the right has instructions, a few Quilting magazines, extra needles, rotary cutter and all my thread (I keep the Thread stored in one of our clear Stamp boxes).  The little box on the shelf has all my miscellaneous fabric scraps.

The next picture is of the darling fabric that Joan sent me.....thank you Joan!!!!

 

This is the beautiful card she sent with the fabric.  That reminds me I bought the Trendy Trees stamp set but I don't think I've ever used it (I really like it so I'm not sure why I haven't inked it up).

 

The next picture is off the Rag Quilt Bag that started out being a bag for my Kindle....but it may turn out to be something else.  The fabric on the inside is called Minky and it's a tad harder to work with (it stretches) but it's so soft & beautiful! I made this bag also using the Big Shot with the Scallop Square Die.

 

Next picture is of my Kindle and the bag :)

 

And here it is inside it....I haven't added handles because I'm not sure if I want to hang it off my shoulder or just have short straps to carry it.

 

If you're unfamiliar with the Amazon Kindle.....google it or go to Amazon.  Next to buying my Mac computer it's one of the best things I've ever bought!!!  If you read a lot of books it's perfect!  My house has thousands of books (not sure it's really thousands but it's a lot) and the Kindle will store 1500 on it and it's as thin as a pencil.

Rag Quilt Purse part two

Just a quick update.....Part two of the Rag Quilt Purse is ready.  Click here to head over to You Tube to watch it.  I'll load it on my Chic n Scratch Live! website as soon as I get a chance but I need to finish the typed instructions first. I'll try to have those finished tomorrow.

I've had a few ladies question if I'm going to get back to stamping and I just want to assure you I love stamping and of course I'm going to continue offering everything I have in the past.   But getting our house ready and making all these decisions are draining (I could have used several words but draining sounds good).  So, right now Quilting has become a life saver.  It brings me peace and makes me happy and I can sit at the machine & sew when my brain and my body is too exhausted to do anything else. 

Who has a Kindle?  Who wants a Kindle?  Who has it on their Christmas wish list?  The reason I ask is my next sewing project is going to be a bag for my Kindle.....I hope it works out.  I don't have a patten but I'm thinking I can make one :)

Rag Quilt Purse Video

Good morning!

Are you one of the ladies that have been anxiously waiting for the video on how the make the Rag Quilt Purse with the Scallop Square die?  I've loaded Part One on You Tube.  Click here to head over and watch it.  I'm working on part two today and hope to finish it but....no promises.  I have the tile guys at my house today and I'm not sure (you know....two dogs that bark each time the door is opened or when a stranger walks in).

Fabric Details

If you use three patterns of fabric for your purse this is what you'll need:

• 13 Scallop Squares of one pattern
• 13 Scallop Squares of one pattern
• 12 Scallop Squares of one pattern
• 19 Squares of Batting 3 1/4 x 3 1/4
• 2 Handles (finished size is 1 x 24) fabric will need to be 2 1/4 x 24
• Strip of batting 3/4 x 24
• Closing Strap - 12 x 1/2 fabric needs to be 12 x 1
• Fabric for plastic canvas if you want to add it to the bottom of your purse

I will have instructions and a pattern available for a small fee.  As soon as I get the videos finished I'll work on those.

I've got some news to share..... I've held off saying anything but I've worried some of you and it's time to share.  We are moving.....out of state.   That's all the details I can share right this minute (I will explain more later).  I'm frantic with trying to get the house in shape for us to put on the market.  I was in denial for a while and didn't act but the time has come for me to jump in with two feet. I've spent almost every waking moment stamping, blogging.... etc for the past few years and I'm sad to say I've neglected the house.   Dave & I both are trying to look at this as an opportunity to get rid of some of the clutter.

Mid November update......Dave was offered an opportunity for us to stay in the Kansas area and we are not moving.

With that being said.....my head is spinning with selling a house....buying a house ..... moving...& last but certainly not least my Stampin' Up! business.

I want to continue posting and providing customer support to all my wonderful customers and those of you that know me...know that I will try my hardest.  I'm also in the process of changing my Reward Punch Card....if you're a customer of mine and are working towards filling your card....not to worry your points will transfer over.  My goal is to make it easier to track and make it easier for you to redeem.  I'll post all the details as soon as possible.
