Spice Cake Drag Around Rag Quilt

Here's what the Spice Cake Drag Around Rag Quilt looks like after it's been washed.

I love it!!  And it's made just like my original Drag Around Rag Quilt ...only difference is I used the Stampin Up Spice Cake Fat Quarters instead of yards of fabric. 

I used five packs of the Spice Cake Fabric and if you've purchased the Drag Around Quilt Class you should receive a notification in the next few days letting you know I've added the supply list to the website (the directions and pictures will not change ..everything is the same except the Fabric).

Here's another to look at it .... click on the picture to view it larger but ignore the thread... still need to trim those off.

I will admit the Quilt isn't as soft as the one made with all Flannel ....but I've found a way to make it softer and will share that with my Holly Berry Bouquet Rag Quilt.  I'm also going to enlarge it so that it will be perfect for adults ....the Drag Around size is for children (& it can be made in five hours).

Spice Cake Drag Around Rag Quilt

 

I decided last week that I was going to make a Spice Cake Drag Around Rag Quilt.  But ...before I go any further I have to tell you I'm testing the waters.

The Drag Around Rag Quilt I made a few months ago .... was made with all flannel fabric.  And .... with all flannel it comes out super soft!!

I'm not sure how it's going to turn out using the Stampin' Up! Spice Cake fabric ...since it's not flannel ....but I'm going to add Chocolate Flannel for the inside piece so at least it will have the normal fraying.  

Once I get it complete ...I'll take pictures and let you know what I think.  The other option is you could use flannel on the back side and the middle piece and then the only thing that wasn't flannel would be the front ...but we'll see.  I think I'll like it .... I just may have to wash it with some fabric softener a few extra times.

If I find that I like using the Spice Cake Fabric for the Drag Around Rag Quilt ....I'll make those instructions available to everyone that's purchased the Drag Around Rag Quilt Class & Instructions.  (Size and measurements are the same ...only difference is we're using Fat Quarters and not yards of fabric and we're using non Flannel fabric.)

By the way I'm not sure I've mentioned this before ..... if you want a larger size quilt ...all you do is add more rows.  I started with the Drag Around Quilt because you can make it from start to finish in five hours .... (typical "get it done Angie" style).

Clear Flower Die

Today we're going to talk about the Clear Flower Die #114534 for the Big Shot Die Cut Machine.   It's retiring on June 30th and it's currently marked down to $14.96 (original price was $19.95).  

If you've followed my blog for a while ...you've seen me use it on my Flower Quilts and even a purse. 

So, my post today is a tribute to the Flower Die and a reminder that if you want to make the Flower Quilt ...you will need this die. 

Back in April ...before everything fell apart .... I started the video on How to make the Flower Quilt ....and I have 90% of the video filmed.  What I'll do is ......release that part this afternoon... part two will hopefully be finished very soon!!!  (It's not hard it's just finding a couple hours to sew and film at the same time.)

Just a reminder ....  the process for my Quilts are I make the Quilt Top and then take the quilt top, batting & backing fabric to a longarm quilter and let her finish it ...she also does the Binding for me for a small fee.  I like making the Quilt Tops ... a lot ....they're fun to make!!  But I prefer to leave the rest to the professionals.  I tell everyone I'm the new generation Quilter :)   Or you could call me a Lazy Quilter just like I'm a Lazy Stamper.

The Crafting Chic

The Crafting Chic site is my latest adventure and here's a video to explain more.

As I was planning this I talked to some of my friends and we all agreed that if I created one more Chic n Scratch site it would just confuse everyone ...myself included. 

I had several names to choose from ...but I decided on The Crafting Chic because the word crafting includes many things ...not just stamping.  And since my first online class is the Drag Around Rag Quilt Class  .... that really confirmed that crafting was the perfect choice.

The next class on the agenda is a Stamp a Stack and it's not only an online class but it will also include the supplies ...stay tuned for more details the later part of July (after the Stampin' Up! Convention).

Happiest Birthday Wishes

My card today is using some of the new product in the 2011 2012 Idea Book & Catalog.

We were able to order the new In-Colors and a few stamps and this was the first card I made.  ....Everything is new ...except the Whisper White card stock :)  My warm up card is always white and a very simple card.  And I choose to use Wisteria Wonder for all my friends that love purple ....but you know me .... greens are my favorite and Lucky Limeaid is my favorite of the new colors ...next to Pool Party :)

I used the Lace Ribbon Punch with Wisteria Wonder card stock.  I stamped the images from the Happiest Birthday Wishes stamp set and I used the Scallop Circle Punch with the 1-3/8 Circle Punch.

Speaking of the Idea Book & Catalog, as soon as we're allowed to pre-sell them I'll post the information.  In the meantime, feel free to send me an email requesting a copy.  Please use angie@mychicnscratch.com.  (If you've spent $100 with me in the last 12 months ...you qualify for a free copy....please include your mailing address in your email so I can prepare everything in advance....we have July 4th holiday and I leave for Convention on July 12th).

I have to say I LOVE THE NEW IDEA BOOK & CATALOG.  I'm a HUGE FAN of stamp sets you can color (not a lot of coloring but some) and let's just there are a few that brought tears to my eyes....Seriously!!  I think I was just so happy to see some sets that spoke to me personally. (Does that sound crazy?)

I've created some cute stuff with the new product ...but I'm saving it for July.  Since I can't post the product in a video I'm going to wait so I can post the project and video on the same day.  I think it will be worth the wait.

Tune in tomorrow for all the details on my Drag Around Rag Quilt Class.  The site is ready, the videos are posted, the instructions are typed ..... I just need to finish the announcement and double check to make sure the links are working properly.

Drag Around Rag Quilt

Two days ago I posted this Drag Around Rag Quilt on my Chic n Scratch Fan Page and the response was fantastic!! 

I shared this picture and ask if they'd like a Virtual Drag Around Rag Quilt Class and I'm happy to report that it's in the works.

Close as a Memory Stamp set

Isn't this card beautiful? I just love it!!  But I'm a little sad...... the Close as a Memory stamp set retires next week.   Jennifer brought this card to show me last week and I loved it so much I had to take a picture real fast!

The colors she used were Certainly Celery, Bashful Blue, Very Vanilla & Soft Suede.

Quilt Block Swap at Convention

My first post today is going out to all my Stampin' Up! Demonstrator friends that are going to Convention.
 I'm going to host a Quilt Block swap at Convention and I want to see who is interested before I post all the details.  My plan is once we exchange blocks, we'll have enough to finish a quilt when we get home.   There will be rules .... for example....  we'll either use white or cream for the base and you must use one or more of the Big Shot dies to make the block.   Once I get a feel for the number I'll post all the details and create an area for us to communicate.   You can post your comment on this post or email me at mychicnscratch@me.com.

Very Thankful Turtle

Good morning,

Isn't this card so stinkin cute?  I adore it!!!  Ellen (one of my downline girls) sent this to me last week and I love it.  Thanks Ellen!!!! 

She used the Very Thankful stamp set and I'm going to be very sad when it retires on June 30th.  It's the Ronald McDonald House Charities set and they change every year with the new catalog.

She also sent me this 100% Hand Dyed Wool Felt.  I can't wait to use it on something!!   I'm having major sewing machine withdrawals....... life has been way to busy lately!!
