Stampin’ Up! Retiring Colors

I'm thrilled to share with you the news regarding the Stampin' Up! Color Renovation!!  Here's what I know :)

29 colors are retiring but not to worry…..some of our past In Colors are returning (I want to insert my excitement here but I'll hold off).

Stampin' Up! has done a wonderful job of introducing all the facts about the Color Renovation.  And…..what I want to focus on first is the retiring colors.  I'm pretty sure they'll be while supplies last.  So, if you have a favorite….you might want to order it soon.

Here's a copy of the retiring colors.

Instead of talking about all the details of the five new colors or about which In colors are returning I want to share with you the excitement of what this means.  I've heard from so many of you about getting Pink Pirouette, Wild Wasabi, River Rock….the list goes on.  I get goose pumps just saying those three colors are back.

I read this morning that someone thought the Sweet Pea Designer Paper would be retiring and I sure hope not. I believe the colors in that pack match the new Color Collections perfectly.

To make my case I whipped out two cards really fast.  The first one I'm sharing has to be my favorite!  (I've been using Pink Pirouette all along….. I just couldn't part with it.)

Sweet Pea Pirouette

My next card uses Tangerine Tango (also a color returning) with the Sweet Pea Designer Paper.

Sorry this is the granddaddy of all posts….or you could say it's like an everready battery and it just going & going :)

The next two pictures are how I dealt with my excitement this morning.  When I was on the phone (I use a headset) ….my hands were busy reorganizing my ink pads.  I'm a visual person and I felt it would be easier to make the change now so I will know the colors by heart on July 1st.   (When I joined almost 8 years ago I thought I would have a hard time remembering all 48 colors….I'm happy to report it came naturally and I'm not sure what I was worried about).

These are the new Color Collections. The Brights, Subtles, Regals & Neutrals.   I took the Itty Bitty Shapes punch  (available May 1st)  and punched circles out of card stock.  Those colors are my visual for what family they belong in.  I used Melon Mambo for the Brights.  Celery for the Subtles.  Chocolate Chip for the Neutrals & Not Quite Navy for the Regals (there are a few holes for the new colors coming in).

Here's a nice color chart for you.  Download New_Colors_US_0310

There will be kits available & specials to earn them free.  As soon as all that info is available I'll post it :)

Have a great day!!

p.s. a few have ask what colors will I miss the most.   To be honest I was ready for a make over!! I guess if you look at the colors I use most often maybe Close to Cocoa & Creamy Caramel.   But I've been using Soft Suede lately so I should be okay.

So is all of this changing with the new catalog? Is it get the colors you want until they are gone or are we good through the current catalog time frame? So many questions.

  2. the retiring colors are while supplies last. the new colors will be introduced in the new catalog July 1st.

Thank you so much for the information. I am sad to see some colors go, but I am excited to see some of the “in colors” coming back.
I just love your blog. I check it everyday. You have such great ideas. Thanks for sharing.

  5. Thanks for this information. River Rock had to be my all time fav color and am so glad it is making a comeback :)

  6. Thanks for posting this! I think this is a good change, some of the colors were a bit dated. Bring on the new!

    Angie,

What is is that you store your ink pads on? Looks kinda nifty, I don’t think I’ve seen anything like that.

  9. I got them at Ikea, I believe they were once used to store cassettes :)

  10. Great post – I am looking forward to the change as well!

Aren’t Going Gray and Basic Brown retiring as well?

  12. Hi Angie…..GREAT idea about the circles!! I’m going to do that too!!! I’m super jazzed about the color renovation!!!! I think SU has picked the best of the best!!!

  13. Mindy

Not happy about the changes with the bold brights. There are no bright greens in the new collection. I don’t consider old olive to be bright at all. I do like the new colors just not that they took away all the brights. Disappointed!

  14. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but unless they revamp the color scheme in the Sweet Pea paper pack it will retire as it has Taken with Teal in it. I sure hope they do revamp the colors, though, as this is one of my all time favorite sets of paper!

Thanks for the breakdown and the downloads! I am thinking I should re-organize my ink pads also!

  16. juda (as we still call you),
i am devastated too, but you know they CAN’T keep Sweet Pea. it is loaded with Taken with Teal and that is NOT staying. they’ll have something just as good, if not better. think of all the old papers we’ve loved that have gone away!
i’m assuming you will be at convention. will look for you there.
